Mark Whittle, Partner Centre for Strategy & Evaluation Services (CSES) has 18 years’ experience in undertaking evaluations of policies, programmes and legislation. He is the team leader in respect of the ongoing Evaluation of the uptake and impact of participation in the European Framework Programmes for Research in Member States for the European Commission’s DG RTD. He has also had involvement in the Interim Evaluation of Horizon 2020's Financial Instruments and the Interim Evaluation of Horizon 2020's Secure Societies Programme. Earlier he led the Interim Evaluation of FP7 Security and the Ex-post Evaluation of the Preparatory Action for Security Research. He has a strong interest in the methodological challenges relating to assessing R&I impacts, such as how to capture the longitudinal and cumulative impacts of FP participation, traceability and attribution issues and how to strengthen the fitness for purpose of performance indicators and monitoring systems.
